PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi condemns the explosion in Gaza targeting Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and General Intelligence Chief Majed Faraj

“This deplorable assassination attempt targeting Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and Intelligence Chief Majed Faraj is a cowardly act of criminality.

Such violence aimed at the Prime Minister as he was inaugurating projects to repair the infrastructure and to provide the Palestinian people of Gaza with the basic requirements of a decent life, is tantamount to an act of betrayal.

It is particularly vicious in that it sought to undermine all efforts at reunification and thereby weaken the Palestinian cause as a whole.

Such lawlessness and criminality must be firmly checked and the perpetrators must be brought to justice in accordance with the rule of law.

This also intensifies the urgency of ending the division and unifying all structural institutional, security, legal and judicial aspects of Palestinian reality.”
